• Personal Information
• Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and other account-related details.
• Journal Entries & Local Data
• Your diary notes, personal reflections, mood tracking data, and attached media files. These are stored locally on your device by default. We do not read, view, or sell the personal contents of your journal entries.
• Mess & Other Member Data
• Group Information: We store information about the mess groups or other groups you belong to, including member names and the distribution of shared expenses.
• Expenditure Data: The app collects and stores details of individual and group meal expenditures to calculate and divide expenses among members.
• Purchases & Subscriptions
• Financial transactions for Monthly, Yearly, or Lifetime purchases are processed securely through Google Play In-App Billing. We do not collect or store your credit card numbers or banking details. We receive only purchase confirmation tokens from Google to unlock premium features.
• Device and Usage Analytics
• We collect anonymous diagnostic data, app crash reports, and basic usage metrics to improve app functionality and stability.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information strictly for the following purposes:

• Service Provision: To provide personal journaling tools and to record, track, and calculate daily meal expenses.
• Payment Distribution: To divide the expenses among mess members based on the data entered by you and your group.
• Premium Access: To verify and deliver premium subscription tiers and lifetime purchase entitlements.
• Account Management: To manage your account, provide customer support, and notify you of updates to the app.
• Analytics: To analyze app usage, improve functionality, and enhance user experience.

3. Sharing Your Information

We do not share your personal information with third parties except as follows:

• With Mess Members (Strictly Limited): The app shares only your expenditure and group expense data with other members in your mess group to calculate and distribute costs. Your personal journal entries are completely private and are never shared with mess members.
• Service Providers: We may use third-party service providers (e.g., Google Play Services for billing, cloud hosting, analytics services) to help operate the app securely. These providers are obligated to keep your data secure and confidential.
• Legal Requirements: We may share your information if required by law or to protect our legal rights (e.g., compliance with a subpoena or other legal process).

4. Data Retention

We retain your account and expense information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this Privacy Policy. Your personal journal entries remain on your device unless you utilize a cloud backup feature. If you request the deletion of your account, we will remove your personal data from our records, subject to legal retention requirements. Uninstalling the app permanently removes locally stored journal entries.

We take appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. This includes using encryption and secure servers. However, no data transmission over the internet is completely secure. While we strive to protect your information, we cannot guarantee the security of data transmitted through the app.

Journal DayBook is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
